TX136/500 QRSS and DFCW modes added

Postby F4GCB » 03 Sep 2014 07:28

Hello the TX136/500 builders,

Many thanks to Juha and Matti for the great quality of their kits.
In addition to the hardware efficient design, the open access to the source code is a real temptation.

Also during a wet summer in France, I enjoyed to do modest improvements on the TX136/500 software.
This unofficial version 1.05a changes :
- added QRSS beacon mode 1 to 120s
- added DFCW beacon mode 1 to 120s and dash shift 0.1 to 5 Hz
- display and set frequency with 1 Hz step
- frequency range according to IARU bands (135.7 to 137.8 KHz for TX136 and 472 to 479 KHz to TX500)
- cw up/dow, freq+/- and rf pwr push buttons are disabled during beacon tx.

Of course the beacon operation is unchanged compared with the official version 1.04 and the TX136/500 remains a stand-alone device.

Having no TX500 this software has been validated on TX136.
For the ones who would wish to try it, thanks in advance for your feedback.

Patrick,

Great work! DFCW has been requested many times for TX136 and TX500.
Thank you very much.

Patrick,
Thank you for adding of DFCW on TX500.
It works well on my JUMA TX500.
We need to make limitation on RF-Power less than 50W for portable machine.
It seems that the definition of RFPWR may be 2 instead 3 in juma_tx500.h for Japan.

for an example:
// other constants
//#define MAX_RFPWR 3 // RF power selector max value, range = 0 ... 3
#define MAX_RFPWR 2 // RF power selector max value, range = 0 ... 2 for Portable regulation upto 50W in Japan, 7L1RLL

Would you please make hex file as above example?

Hi Rick,

Many thanks for your feedback.
Following your demand please find the version 1.05b according with the portable regulation in Japan.

I could add a power limitation setting in the configuration menu for a next TX500/136 version.
Would this setting be satisfactory with portable regulation in Japan ?

HI, Patrick,
Thanks so much for adding of power limitation for portable in Japan.
This regulation is common on 136kHz band in Japan.
It works well on my JUMA TX500.

Hi Patrick,
Sorry, I forget to replay for your question.

Japanese Government requests to all equipments under 70cm band shall be less than 50watts for all portable transmitters
and shall not user selectable at the configuration menu.

In any way, I will get lisence on 472kHz band after Janualy 4th 2015 with the following environment:
1)Frequency regulation : both lower and upper frequency limitations are applied by V1.05a.
2)Power reguration : program V1.05b gave me a environment of maximum 50W output for a portable transmitter.
3)Hermonics regulation : Add 4 stage of 580 kHz Filter(L=15uF,C=6n8) between JUMA TX500 and Antenna
to eliminate interfare to BC radio around here. Examples: BC station 954kHz and
1422kHz exist in Tokyo area. In addition to the above, our transmittion place shall keep
200m distance from any house if I do not get special permittion by the house.
Authority will come to check our equipments at our homes to make sure their regulations.
Thank you,
7L1RLL Rick

Hi Rick,

Thanks for information about Japanese portable regulation.
For the (probable) next TX500/136 program release I'll plan a limited power version more than standard version.

Less than 2 months before using your TX500. Patience and good working on 630m

Hi Patrick, CC:Matti OH7SV
I have released my experience on JUMA TX500 Modification as the following URL:
The web-site is mainly written in Japanese, but special acknowledgement to both Patrick and Matti in the page.
I would hope to get license on 472kHz band using JUMA TX500 in coming January.
